Susan M. Saidens, Managing Director

Susan M. Saidens CPA, CEIV, ASA, ABV (Bio: Vitae) is Managing Director at SMS VALUATION and Financial Forensics, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania based valuation consultancy firm. Susan is an experienced valuation professional with deep expertise in the valuation of business enterprises and intangible assets. She has a strong knowledge of valuation financial reporting requirements for both public and private businesses.

Susan graduated from Douglass College, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey. Susan is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Susan’s accreditations as a business valuator include the prestigious Certified in Entity and Intangible Valuations (CEIV) credential, the Accredited Senior Appraiser – Business Valuation Discipline (ASA) accreditation and the Accredited in Business Valuations (ABV) accreditation.

Susan is presently serving her second 3-year termas an elected Member-at-Large of the Business Valuation Committee of the American Society of Appraisers. She is also a member of the Education Committee of the American Society of Appraisers and most recently served as the Chairperson of its Webinar Education sub-committee. Susan is proud to have been appointed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as the ABV Champion for both the Commonwealth Pennsylvania and the State of Delaware. Susan has previously served on the Executive Advisory Board of the National Association of Certified Valuators and is a past recipient of its Outstanding Member Award.
Susan was a 2009 award recipient of the “Woman of Distinction” by The Philadelphia Business Journal.

Susan is a frequent presenter and author on valuation topics. She has presented at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ national conferences on fair value measurements as well as state business valuation conferences of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Susan is an instructor with the American Society of Appraisers and is a course developer of professional education on intangible assets and also complex capital structures offered by the American Society of Appraisers. Susan is a co-author of “Guide to Fair Value under IFRS”, published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. and also several articles on valuation published by PEI Media.

Recently, Susan proudly served as the mentor for the Business Valuation Competition Team of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Susan is a recipient of several “Who’s Who” awards for significant accomplishments she has made to the profession. Susan is also active in her community having served as the Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of a non-profit organization that works with autistic individuals, served as a corporate committee of the American Heart Associations’ Go Red for Women, served as Chairperson of the Allocations Committee for the United Way of Chester County, Pennsylvania, and served as Chairperson of the Business and Finance Committee of the Downingtown Area School Board, Downingtown, Pennsylvania.
